Diageo’s World Class is the biggest cocktail competition in the world. After being part of the official media team for the World Class competition in Berlin the year before, I was asked to be part of the media crew once again when the circus moved to Glasgow.
Unfortunately due to a fully booked agenda I couldn’t attend the entire competition week, and my friend Dieter Moeyaert stepped in. But luckily, I was in Schotland for another project in that same week! So I was able to squeeze in a flash visit to the World Class global finals in Glasgow.
Too bad I missed the performances of our Belgian competitor Thomas Timmermans in Schotland, but at least I got to see my buddy Sembo Amirpour (who competed for Germany) doing his magic. Besides enjoying a few hours of the biggest cocktail competition on earth, I interviewed some of the judges and previous winners of the World Class Global cocktail competition for an international drinks magazine. In total I had 4 interviews, starting off with former winners Erik Lorincz, Jennifer Le Nechet and David Rios, and least but not least industry legend Hidetsugu Ueno.
