Clairin is a little known style of spirit, but I absolutely love it! You could consider it as a type of rum, but made in a very artisanal way. Let’s say if rum and mezcal had a baby, it would be clairin!
For this competition I was a judge alongside fellow judges Vitas Van de Cauter (bartender) and Daniele Di Bondi (from the Italian company that imports Clairin into Europe). It was an amazing competition, that was eventually won by Valentin Norberg, owner of ‘Botanical by Alfonse’ and one of the most talented bartenders from the French speaking part of Belgium!
