When Italian liqueur brand Amaro Montenegro organized it’s Belgian leg of ‘The Vero Bartender‘ competition, I was asked by their local distributor Cinoco Spirits to judge the competition, alongside Amaro Montenegro’s global brand ambassador Boris and Cinoco’s Spirits Director Stephan De Bolle.
The competition took place in a small castle in Wilrijk, near Antwerp and was won by Xander Dedroog (Bar Barba, Leuven). Xander won a ticket to advance to the global finals in Bologna, Italy. I was asked to join him, along with Belgian drinks blogger Geert Conard, but unfortunately it didn’t fit my agenda. So I had to cheer him on from home.
